While returning from the gym, a PETA India staff member spotted this handsome rooster on a busy street in Mumbai. Children were harassing the frightened bird, who was trying to hide under a car. After confirming that the rooster had been abandoned, the staff member, with the help of a security guard, secured the bird inside a nearby building and then called PETA India’s rescue team. They raced to the scene and took the rooster back to their Mumbai office, where he was given food, water, and some much needed peace and quiet. Today, Cooper rules the roost at a tranquil sanctuary.
