Tell Mexico's Dolphinariums: Release Dolphins to Seaside Sanctuaries
Mexico has banned keeping dolphins in concrete tanks, breeding them in captivity, forcing them to perform tricks, and allowing direct contact during “swim-with-dolphin” encounters. Now, dolphinariums have an opportunity to comply with the law by releasing dolphins to seaside sanctuaries.
Dolphins are highly intelligent, social animals who can swim up to 60 miles a day, communicate with one another using unique signature whistles, and form lifelong family bonds. Small concrete tanks can never provide the space, stimulation, or freedom these animals need to thrive.
