Fall Head Over Heels for Vegan Fashion

Hey trendsetter…

We know you value feeling as good as you look. We also know there’s no better way to get dressed than by wearing your values on your sleeve. Supporting companies that are moving fashion into the future with sustainable production, high ethics, and cutting-edge innovation allows you to do just that.

That’s why we’ve compiled the season’s flyest cruelty-free styles in this interactive lookbook, shot in Downtown Los Angeles with the winners of this year’s Vegan Fashion Awards, “Most Influential Designer” Joshua Katcher (of Brave GentleMan) and “Most Innovative Designer” Leanne Mai-ly Hilgart (of Vaute). From cork handbags and vegan wool blend sweaters to faux fur stoles and the vegan leather “It” platform of the season, we’ve got you covered. Because nothing makes us happier than helping you live your most beautiful, honest life. Now go do your heart (and closet) a favor, and get clicking!

Most Influential Designer: Joshua Katcher, owner and founder of Brave GentleMan and adjunct professor at Parsons The New School for Design
He’s the editor of men’s lifestyle website The Discerning Brute—which was created to foster discourse with creative influencers working to redesign the world—a professor at one of the most prestigious fashion-design universities in the world, and opening the doors to Brave GentleMan, the first all-vegan and sustainable men’s fashion brick and mortar store in New York City, this fall. Paving the way for compassionate, innovative thinkers is Mr. Katcher’s thing, and we dig it.

Most Innovative Designer: Leanne Mai-ly Hilgart, owner and creative director of Vaute
Here’s a woman who found a gap in society and put her heart and soul into filling it. Vegan wool-blend hats, coats, and sweaters are all the rage in Hilgart’s fall collection, as she so gracefully proves that there’s no need to include animals in the business equation.

Most Talented New Designers: Pamella Magpali and Barbara Mattivy of Insecta Shoes
Insecta is about increasing the lifecycle of what’s already out in the world. By scavenging for and giving new life to vegan vintage clothing, this Brazil-based company turns everything it gets its hands on into 100 percent unique shoes, meaning that no one else has a pair quite like yours.

Most Socially Conscious: Della
This Los Angeles–based fashion line is woman-owned and -run and driven by its mission to create goods that give back. The company works directly with a community in Ghana to provide jobs, education, and skills training to those who need it most.

Most Loved Vintage/Repurposed: Reformation
Buying a dress from Reformation is a bit of a spiritual experience—press “purchase” and you’re informed of just how many pounds of carbon dioxide and gallons of water were saved by choosing “Ref” over other fast-fashion options. We love it for using only upcycled and vintage fabrics (and for being mostly vegan)—and we’re not the only ones. The brand’s biggest fans include the likes of Taylor Swift, Karlie Kloss, Rihanna, and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley. Can you say #PowerSquad?
