From childhood, most humans have been conditioned to view certain species with respect and compassion and to view others as disposable or worthless—based on completely arbitrary assumptions. But it doesn’t matter if you have feathers, fur, scales, or hair. Complex feelings such as love, sadness, pain, and joy are not unique to humans. And we all have a will to live.
