In Guatemala, stray dogs and cats struggle daily just to survive. Thanks to PETA’s Global Compassion Fund (GCF) and our friends at Adoptame Atitlan, that is beginning to change.

Adoptame Atitlan is focused on a vital cause: controlling the stray population through sterilization and finding forever homes for forgotten animals. With PETA’s GCF support, their team brought free, comprehensive care to animals and their guardians—sterilizing and vaccinating animals, treating them for fleas, ticks, and parasites, and providing guardians with vital educational information on how to care for their companion animals and the stray animals in their community.

PETA’s Global Compassion Fund powers low-cost or free sterilization surgeries worldwide that stop companion animal homelessness before it starts. Every surgery performed in Guatemala is a life changed—and countless future lives of suffering prevented.
