PETA’s Global Compassion Fund is currently working closely with staff at PETA Asia and PETA India to assess the impact of the devastating floods in Nepal and Tibet and identify where support can best be directed for animals in need.

Our Global Compassion Fund has a strong track record of stepping in when animals are at their most vulnerable—wading through floodwaters, sifting through earthquake rubble, and working in crisis zones around the world.

The situation on the ground remains extremely challenging. Reports indicate that a lack of connectivity, power, and resources is actively hindering rescue efforts in the affected areas, making it difficult to fully assess the scale of the crisis. Our teams are working through these obstacles to determine what is needed and where help can be deployed most effectively.

We are also in direct contact with local animal shelter groups in Chitwan and Pokhara, who are providing us with invaluable on-the-ground information to help us better understand the developing situation and ensure that any support we direct reaches those who need it most.

Meanwhile, PETA’s Global Compassion Fund is supporting PETA’s veterinary team, which is currently on the ground in Mexico, spaying and neutering dogs and cats in underserved communities as part of an active multiday clinic.

The team has previously traveled from as far afield as Brazil and Cuba to take part in multiday spay/neuter clinics, sterilizing hundreds of animals.

The Fund also recently provided vital support to animal welfare groups in Venezuela and Colombia following earthquakes in those regions, helping to ensure that animals caught in the chaos received the care they desperately needed.
