Let's End All Glue Trap Sales
Mice, rats, and all animals deserve our compassion and respect, so it’s essential that we use humane methods to solve any perceived problems associated with them. One of the least humane methods of “rodent-control” that exists today is the deadly glue trap. These devices—consisting of pieces of cardboard, fiberboard, or plastic coated with a strong adhesive—are indiscriminate killers, designed to ensnare any small animal who makes contact with the sticky surface.

Trapped rodents and other animals suffer immeasurably during the days that it can take for them to die. Glue traps can rip patches of skin, fur, and feathers off animals’ bodies as they struggle to escape, and many animals will even chew off their own limbs in an effort to free themselves. Sometimes, their faces get stuck in the glue and they suffocate, which can take hours.
Glue trap manufacturers direct consumers to throw animals into the trash along with the traps, where they can be crushed. It can take days for trapped animals to die from exhaustion, injury, shock, dehydration, asphyxiation, or blood loss—an undeniably cruel fate for any feeling, terrified individual to endure. Despite the clear suffering that these devices cause countless animals, some retailers continue to sell glue traps or use glue traps.
Urge Entities to Stop Selling and Using Glue Traps
Dozens of retailers—including CVS, Rite Aid, Walgreens, and many others—have banned the sale of glue traps after hearing from PETA and our members and supporters across the country, and nearly 200 well-known companies and institutions, including 100 airports, have prohibited their use. Together, we can successfully encourage others to do the right thing.
