In Vovchansk, Ukraine, the booms of constant shellings terrify stray and abandoned animals struggling to survive in the war zone. The many terrified cats are difficult to rescue, as they’re quick, quiet, and skillful skulkers. Thankfully, volunteers from PETA-supported Animal Rescue Kharkiv brave the dangers to rescue all the animals they can and have specific methods for containing terrified felines so that they can be relocated safely. See how they do it:

After being cared for by veterinarian staff, the rescued cats are transported to the Little Prince rehabilitation center, where they can relax, recuperate, and even exercise their climbing skills before being adopted.
