Butch was on the brink of death when PETA-supported rescuers found the frail dog cowering in a ruined yard in one of the most heavily shelled parts of the city of Bakhmut, Ukraine. His mangy, emaciated body showed that he had been through hell, and the terrified boy jumped at the sound of gunfire and was petrified of humans. His rescuers showered him with love and medical care and later introduced him to a family eager to give this precious dog the wonderful life he deserved.

The trauma of war is never easy to overcome, and it took five months of boundless love and patience before this gentle soul began to trust his new guardians. Watch this courageous boy’s jaw-dropping journey from the ruins to the comfiest couch and meet the tiny new pal who’s helping him heal!
